What this website stores about you

No analytics service

There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no behavioural tracking. No script on this site is loaded from another company: the fonts, the chess engine and every library are served from this address alongside the pages themselves. Event names are held in the memory of your own tab so the site can be improved later, and they are gone the moment you close it. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Two things kept in your browser

Whether you turned the board sound on or off, so it is remembered next time. And, if you use the programme builder, the answers you gave it, so the enquiry form does not ask you the same questions again. The builder answers are erased the moment the form reads them, and in any case they disappear when you close the tab. Both stay on your device and neither is ever sent anywhere.

The forms send nothing

The enquiry forms do not transmit anything. They write out a message and open your own email application with it, so nothing leaves your device until you press send yourself. What you send arrives at the address below and nowhere else.

Children

No form on this site asks for a child's name, date of birth, photograph or anything else about a child. The parent form asks only for a class group, because that is all that is needed to talk to a school. The quiz, the puzzles and the boards record nothing at all.

Where this website is hosted

The pages are static files served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare has to receive your request in order to answer it, so it processes the ordinary technical details every web request carries, including the address it came from, and it may keep short-lived operational logs. That is how the web works rather than a choice made here. What is a choice: nothing on this site asks Cloudflare, or anybody else, to profile you, follow you or build an audience from you.

The chess engine

Stockfish and the rules library run inside your own browser, downloaded from this site like any other file. The positions you play are worked out on your own device and are not sent anywhere, because there is no application server behind this site to send them to. If you never touch a piece, the engine is never even downloaded.
